Although Electronic Dance Music (EDM) is not a newly invented or listened to genre of music, its prevalence in the United States has been recent. With this in mind, I made EDM and influential DJs of recent decades the focus of my currency redesign project. This project required the redesign of two bills and a digital currency feature.

Wanting to make the bills feel as realistic as possible, I used layers and textures to my advantage. I created my own record, sound wave, and MIDI textures in the background. These were supplemented with bright colors and stylized typefaces that replicated the technology-based nature of EDM. Pairing these elements together allowed me to convey the aesthetic of the scene while keeping the structure of U.S. currency.
